The IETF-105 meeting took place 20-26 July 2019 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In the same venue, the ACM, IRTF & ISOC Applied Networking Research Workshop 2019 (ANRW’19) was held on Monday, July 22, 2019. In both events, our INTRIG team actively participated with the following activities:
Danny Lachos presented the document “Supporting Multi-domain Use Cases with ALTO” in the IETF Application-Layer Traffic Optimization Working Group (ALTO WG) [slides][video]. This draft offers recent research to improve the base ALTO framework to support emerging multidomain use cases, including a unified network information exposure architecture and key ALTO mechanisms and abstractions for multi-domain aggregation.
Within the Benchmarking Methodology Working Group (BMWG), Raphael Rosa presented (remotely) the draft “Methodology for VNF Benchmarking Automation” [draft][slides][video]. This document is moving to its -05 version, with solid progress being supported by its open source reference implementations. Current focus in the draft development is set to evolve the sections related to the VNF Performance Profile.
Danny Lachos also gave a talk at the ANRW’19 as part of the Measurement and Optimisation session. Similar to the IETF ALTO document, this on-going multi-domain work with ALTO is a collaborative activity with fellows from Yale University, Nokia Bell Labs, Ericsson Research, Sprint, and Telefonica [paper][slides].
