EU-Brazil NECOS Kick-Off

The kick-off meeting of the EU-Brazil collaborative research project NECOS (Novel Enablers for Cloud Slicing) took place in Barcelona, Spain, at UPC facilities. Representatives from all 11 partners were present during the meeting where organizational and technical aspects of the project where discussed for a successful project start.

Network slicing is a very overloaded term these days with diverse meanings and scope for different people in the large domain of networking. NECOS seeks to advance the state of the art on a number of aspects. Aligning our views, expectations, and methodologies (including platforms and open source tools) is key towards an effective collaborative project.

After the 2-day workshop in Barcelona, we had the chance to visit the 5TONIC lab at IMDEA, in Madrid. The visit was very useful to understand the experimental opportunities that can be exploited in the project. We also visited Telefonica to further discuss the vCPE use case in scope of the project.

Finally, find below the first poster presentation of the project to be presented during the EU-Brazil Workshop on Cooperation in the area of ICT during the first week of December in Brasilia.
