INTRIG Participation at IEEE Globecom 2022

This year’s IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) edition was held from 4 to 8 December 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, known for its breathtaking landscape, laid-back beach culture, and annual carnival. The theme of the event was- “Accelerating the Digital Transformation through Smart Communications,” embracing high-quality technical programs, tutorials, and workshops. In addition, it included industry programs, with keynotes and panels from prominent research, industry and government leaders, business and industry panels, and vendor exhibits.

The members of the Information and Networking Technologies Research and Innovation Group (INTRIG), led by Prof. Christian Rothenberg from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), attended this event to take part in different offered tutorials-workshops and present their accepted demos.

On the first day of the main event, Francisco Vogt presented his demo titled: IN-BAND INTER PACKET GAP TELEMETRY (IPGNET): UNLOCKING NOVEL NETWORK MONITORING METHODS.

The next day, Fabricio Rodriguez and Raza Mustafa presented their demos, titled, respectively: TOWARDS AN IN-NETWORK UAV CENTRALIZED COLLISION AVOIDANCE ALGORITHM IN PROGRAMMABLE DATA PLANES and A FRAMEWORK FOR QOS AND QOE ASSESSMENT OF ENCRYPTED VIDEO TRAFFIC WITH 4G AND 5G OPEN DATASETS . On the last day, Raza Mustafa presented another demo titled: YOUTUBE GOES 5G: BENCHMARKING YOUTUBE IN 4G VS 5G THROUGH OPEN DATASETS.

Apart from this, two more demos were presented remotely by Rossano Pinto and William Quintas, titled, respectively: MULTI-LAYER HIERARCHICAL SDN PACKET-OPTICAL RESTORATION USING P4 AND GNMI and UAVS ALLOCATION AND VISUALIZATION IN VANETS VIA DRL .
The recorded video presentation of all demos is available as follows-

As a part of the event’s industry podium talks, Prof. Christian Rothenberg also presented a short podium pitch during the coffee break in the exhibition hall about the aims, potentialities, and opportunities of SMART NEtworks and ServiceS for 2030 (SMARTNESS), a FAPESP Engineering Research Center (ERC).
